Well hello there, thanks for stopping by.

FRECKLE + HIDE makes luxury, handmade bags, wallets and accessories from recycled and reclaimed leather (it’s old sofas folks, but that doesn’t sound as glamorous does it!!)     Why do I skin these poor unsuspecting items of furniture??  I believe in slow fashion and high quality.

In reusing, remaking and reloving.

I want to make you an item that’s going to be YOUR NEW FAVOURITE.
That you pet when no one is looking and, during those long summer holidays, you take to the toilet to keep you company whilst you hide from your children. F+H couples style with sustainability, quality with quirkiness.

I ordered a card holder and wallet as a Christmas present and was delighted with my purchase. A completely original present that will stand the test of time. It was beautiful and of such high quality that I cannot wait to buy more. The recycled leather meant my conscience was clear and that I had stopped any more animals dying for fashion and also stopped more furniture going to landfill. Win - win. An amazing present xxxx

I ordered a new wallet for my husband's Christmas and couldn't be more delighted with the result!! We have a beautiful product made from an old sofa and 1952 fabric RAF map. This was a really special present steeped in history and memories. Now it has a new lease of life with us. Plus some beautiful leather didn't end up in landfill which makes me super happy. Thank you so much! We will be back for more at some point in the future! xxx

The fact that you are here shows that you have amazing taste, but you knew that already didn’t you?  But does everyone else know that too?

Let me start off by telling you a story.  Once upon a time there was a beautiful girl (this is you by the way) who was made to work really hard by the boss of the evil corporation she worked for.  Every day, she went to the office in the same drab clothes carrying the bag that she had bought from the high street that she mistakenly thought was made from leather until it started peeling like redhead after a week in Magaluf.

She was frequently mistaken for Beryl from HR who shopped in the same stores as her.  She went about her beige life, eating beige food and drinking insipid cups of tea from the machine in the canteen.  Then one day, she heard about an office trip to the pub that was happening that evening.  She was so excited about it, and was secretly hoping that Alphonso, the intern from Italy, might ask her to go.  But he didn’t, he asked Beryl instead.  The end.

Nooooooo.  Of course that’s not the end.

The beautiful girl was eating her beige sandwich in the park whilst trying to concuss the loitering seagulls with some furry imperial mints she found at the bottom of her coat pocket (F+H does not condone this behaviour in any way) when a glittering apparition came to sit on the bench beside her.  She was a vision of beauty and loveliness (this is me by the way!!) and the girl couldn’t help pouring her heart out to her, telling of her beige life and her lustful thoughts about Alphonso.

The stranger introduced herself as the Sweary Godmother and told the girl that she WOULD go to the pub after all.  She told the girl tales of a magical workshop where, with a flick of a knife, abandoned sofas made of leather softer than puppies ears were transformed into amazing, one of a kind bags. The girl was enchanted by the idea of owning something so unique and before she knew it, she begged her Godmother for a brand new handbag.  With a wave of her magic wand and a few expletives, the Sweary Godmother produced a bag so stunning it brought tears to the girl’s eyes.

The sun came out from behind the cloud, the grass had never looked so green and butterflies danced and flitted round her.  The girl skipped back to work with the bag on her arm, a new sense of confidence and a half bottle of vodka she had picked up from the corner shop.  She realised she didn’t need Alphonso to take her to the pub anyway because she was a strong, independent woman.

THE END.

That’s a much better ending isn’t it. And it isn’t a fairy story because it could be you and although I’m sure your life isn’t beige, don’t you deserve something beautiful that makes you feel like you can take on the world and look amazing doing it?
